Client Evaluations

Let's start off by saying that this is the first outdoor RC helicopter I've owned. On the other hand I have a compact fleet of indoor RC's, like 3 S107G's which is what the S031G is modeled following. The gyro is incredible, as is the super hassle-free trim dial. In spite of the reality that I broke the upper blade grip the initial time out (hit the only metal light pole in 1000ft radius), I'd say this is a Very durable small machine. The principal rotor blades are sturdy -- too powerful. My nearby hobby guy had the portion in stock. Then again, though examining it he noticed that I have the old style battery rather than the new LiPo battery which explains the 75 - 90 min. charging time. The new LiPo is one particular of the improvements supposedly made to the "G" model. At least I nonetheless get an sincere 10-15 minutes per charge. Speaking of "power" the S031G is very underpowered by design, when facing even the slightest headwind. It really is got OK lift, but the horizontal tail rotor blade is too compact or demands to be completely redesigned. I'm NOT talking about gusty 10-15 mph winds, mind you, I am talking about breezes, possibly five-7 mph. Lift is good but I identified that hand launching greatly enhanced my flying time. When in the air using the power to move against slight headwinds will get you into trouble if you do not have sufficient practice. The S031G likes to fly high -- and it will if you aren't careful. I try not to exceed 20ft given that of the forward thrust problem. Nevertheless, I've gotten it nicely more than 150ft when I realized I could possibly be in difficulty and panicked, cut the energy too substantially, and still landed ideal on the skids. I would really like to see a redesigned version of this model that gives adequate forward thrust for general flying circumstances. I feel the S031G is a helicopter with a lot of prospective, but falls short for the reason that of it is inability to fly effectively in most useable circumstances. I'd certain like to fly it in a huge empty warehouse!

I had a couple of the S107G's and decided to attempt out this bigger S031G. Not like the S107G, there is no way to use this in a typical size property or even a modest So Cal size back yard. As soon as you have adequate space this factor is amazing. Unless you have a lot of knowledge, I do not recommend a parking lot you honestly will need grass for softer crash landings. I am amazed that these are so affordable.
